6 Weeks to Go . . . and why I’m going back 

Six weeks before my next Sri Lanka trekking expedition, I reflect on the wildlife, landscapes and challenges that await in the country’s stunning hill country. From snakes, leeches and exotic birdlife to the possibility of encountering leopards and other rare wildlife, trekking in Sri Lanka offers a unique adventure in one of the world’s most biodiverse destinations. Beyond the trek itself, this journey supports fundraising and awareness for women’s empowerment in Sri Lanka, helping vulnerable women and girls access education, vocational training and employment opportunities. Through my partnership with the Women’s Development Centre, I hope to highlight both the beauty of Sri Lanka and the importance of creating opportunities for women to build independent and secure futures.
